Change is the Cause of Change
For all,
Music is powerful, much more than many think.
Growing up on rap music, I noticed that it was starting to influence me. It’d be my coping for when I was angry. Just a song or two I would think, but next thing you know, I’ve been listening for the past hour to songs about murder, sex, drugs and illegitimate money. Times change and you grow to realize things aren’t what they seem.
My change came when I was growing with God. Part of my change was to get out of mainstream rap music because it’s straight evil; thus a hindrance to my faith. God placed that change within me and it happened to bring me to a better place as it was a baby step of change for me to prepare for other greater changes; though at the time it felt such a major change. It came naturally in a way. I gradually became disinterested and my tastes were changing.
That’s just a minor change that I had to make on my journey of life with God.
If you’re beginning or are already on your journey with God, you know change is ineluctable. These changes are going to be all over; physical, mental and spiritual. It’s not easy and there will be times when you really are uncomfortable, but you’ll get through it because God gives you strength and it’s part of His plan for you. When we pass through the storm, it’ll be all worth it because He’ll give you peace and stillness.
No matter what path you take, change will come and once again, it won’t be easy. Whatever that change is, whether it’s cutting ties with certain folks, changing routines or habits, you must see it through. Even for unbelievers, nothing happens just because. It’s all part of your journey of life. The sun rises and sets on us all, so we’re all going to experience the “pain” of change.
Growth comes with change and if you’re not willing to change, you’re not willing to grow.
